We have been looking for the past few months for a bigger apartment and finally two days ago we found a place that would fit our needs.
The new place is really big and comfortable, in a perfect central location, and would allow us to host almost sixty soldiers, meaning we wouldn't have to keep turning guys down from a Shabbos meal because of a lack of space.
Also, and this is awesome, the place has two extra guest bedrooms which would be used as sleeping space for lone soldiers when they want to join us in Jerusalem for shabbos and don't have a place to stay. And to top it off, there is also space for the laundry room that the guys have been needing so badly, so they can wash and dry their clothes when they’re off.
As one lone soldier put it recently; “It’s not easy to be here alone, far away from your family. We’re all here because we believe in it, because we want to help protect Israel, but let’s face it, it’s not easy to be in the army. When a regular soldier gets off, he goes home to his family where he can sleep in a comfortable bed, have his laundry done for him, open the refrigerator and find good food, and relax and enjoy Shabbos without having to stress about it. When we finally get off for a Shabbos, we have to first scrounge for the money to buy a chicken, then find a place to cook and eat the chicken, and then if there’s time, we have to find some place to do our laundry by ourselves, and I'm not complaining, but it’s hard, harder than you can imagine.”
Chayal El Chayal is ready to be that warm and comfortable family space for these guys who are out fighting for all of us, and who so need the support that they can’t get from home. But we need your help to make it happen.
]Here's the thing, we have a deadline of only four days to let them know if we want this space. We can’t afford to let this go. They are asking for $2200 (8000 NIS) a month, which is a great price for a place that gives us so much room to grow. But I only have four more days to arrange the support I need to pay the rent.
We have started a campaign to get 22 people to pledge $100 a month, which would cover our costs for this new location. We need this and you know how important it is for the lone soldiers to finally have these things.
