Make a pledge >>

We have been looking for the past few months for a bigger apartment and finally two days ago we found a place that would fit our needs.

The new place is really big and comfortable, in a perfect central location, and would allow us to host almost sixty soldiers, meaning we wouldn't have to keep turning guys down from a Shabbos meal because of a lack of space.

Also, and this is awesome, the place has two extra guest bedrooms which would be used as sleeping space for lone soldiers when they want to join us in Jerusalem for shabbos and don't have a place to stay. And to top it off, there is also space for the laundry room that the guys have been needing so badly, so they can wash and dry their clothes when they’re off.

As one lone soldier put it recently; “It’s not easy to be here alone, far away from your family. We’re all here because we believe in it, because we want to help protect Israel, but let’s face it, it’s not easy to be in the army. When a regular soldier gets off, he goes home to his family where he can sleep in a comfortable bed, have his laundry done for him, open the refrigerator and find good food, and relax and enjoy Shabbos without having to stress about it. When we finally get off for a Shabbos, we have to first scrounge for the money to buy a chicken, then find a place to cook and eat the chicken, and then if there’s time, we have to find some place to do our laundry by ourselves, and I'm not complaining, but it’s hard, harder than you can imagine.”

Chayal El Chayal is ready to be that warm and comfortable family space for these guys who are out fighting for all of us, and who so need the support that they can’t get from home. But we need your help to make it happen.

]Here's the thing, we have a deadline of only four days to let them know if we want this space. We can’t afford to let this go. They are asking for $2200 (8000 NIS) a month, which is a great price for a place that gives us so much room to grow. But I only have four more days to arrange the support I need to pay the rent.

We have started a campaign to get 22 people to pledge $100 a month, which would cover our costs for this new location. We need this and you know how important it is for the lone soldiers to finally have these things.

I am asking you to please take part in this amazing opportunity and help out your fellow brothers when they're in need of a hand. All we need is 22 people to pledge $100 a month (you can use your maaser money).  Your pledge will make a huge impact in the lives of these guys, day in and day out. And if you know of anyone else that would pledge as well, please let them know about this important and urgent campaign.

I wish you all the best. May you have an amazing new year and may all your hearts desires be fulfilled immediately!

Shabbaton with Ascent of Safed!!

This past Shabbos - Parshas Ki-Savo, a Shabbaton for ‘Lone Soldiers’ serving in the IDF was held at Ascent of Safed. Organized by Mordechai Botnick of Chayal El Chayal (an organization that endeavors to provide a home away from home for ‘lone soldiers’) collaborated with Rabbi Eli Naiditch of Ascent, Twenty Five ‘Lone Soldiers’ attended in the fun packed Shabbaton that was generously sponsored by a group of students from Technion University of Haifa.

The program commenced with a Friday afternoon learning seminar arranged by Ezzy Morgenstern concerning ‘what lessons a soldier can take from their training in the army and apply to their everyday life’. Afterwards the girls had the opportunity to bake Challah while the boys visited the Arizal's Mikvah. After candle lighting an inspirational Kabbalat Shabbat was held on the roof overlooking the scenic mountains of the Galil. For the Friday night meal soldiers were sent out to a variety of host families.

A highlight of the evening was that one of our soldiers happened to be stuck on base the previous week and was unable to attend his cousins wedding. The soldier was luck enough to be set up with a host family unbeknown to him, where his cousin and new wife had also arranged to attend a meal, surprising him with the opportunity to see the new couple before they returned back home.

Afterwards everyone rejoined at Ascent for a Farbrengen (inspirational gathering) marking the celebration of Chai Elul and preparations for Rosh Hashonah, lasting long into the night.

Shabbos day the soldiers visited numerous synagogues around the old city to experience the different cultures that the city has to offer with a beautiful meal provided by Ascent for all involved.

A historical tour of Safed was given by Ezzy Morgenstern that wound through the different points of where and how the city was conquered, ending at the stronghold of Metsudah – located at the peak of the city.

Soldiers were so inspired by the day that an impromptu Kumzits began in one of the caves with Nigunim being sung until sunset.

A musical havdalah capped off the evening and a ceremony was held where Rabbi Mordechai Siev presented each soldier with their very own Tanya to inspire them throughout the rest of their service.

Mazal tov to all our soldiers who just had their swearing in and graduation ceremonies!!

Chayenu's for Chayalim

This is a new campaign to sponsor a soldiers subscription of Chayenu

Two boys from Crown Heights currently serving as soldiers in the IDF Golani and Kfir Brigades, were seen learning from a "Chayenu" on their way home.

The distribution of the Chayenus to lone soldiers is a new project taken on by Chayenu and the organization Chayal el Chayal (a.k.a The Rebbe's Infantry).

Many soldiers are looking for something to keep them connected, and the Chayenus give these lone soldiers (soldiers who leave their families back home to voluntarily serve in the IDF) the strength to keep going and spread the Rebbe's teachings wherever they may find themselves.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE MEXICAN SHAVUOS

After all the cooking and preparing for our Mexican Shavuos, we B"H had a great turn out of around 35 soldiers.

A very special thanks to all those that helped out with the shopping, cooking, shlepping, photography and to our great friends who allowed us to use their apartment for the meal and to everyone else that helped make this event the amazing success that it was!!

These are pictures of just some of the amazing dishes we had on the menu!!

Tefillin on Yom Ha'Atzmaut (followed with a bonfire)

We went to the Lone soldier barbeque, arranged by the Lone Soldier Center and we got around 30 soldiers to put on tefillin.

Later on that night we made a bonfire and sat around singing Nigunim. (Chasidic songs)
